Legal notice

ShinyDice is a free online Yatzy game. The site is published and hosted by the parties listed above.

The texts, code, visuals and the ShinyDice name are protected by copyright. Yatzy itself is a traditional dice game: its rules belong to everyone.

Privacy and personal data

The data controller is the publisher of the site. For any question about your data, or to exercise your rights, write to the contact address above.

What we keep, and why:

  • Your account: email address, username and password. The password is never stored in clear, only its hash (bcrypt). Legal basis: performing the service you ask for by creating an account.
  • If you sign in with Google: your Google identifier, email address, name (to suggest a username) and profile photo. The photo is copied to our servers, so that no visitor has to load it from Google.
  • Your games: your games, scores, statistics and ranking, your history, the dice you use, your éclats purchases and your reactions during games.
  • Your session: a strictly necessary session cookie, valid for 30 days or until you sign out. Your IP address is used, in memory only, to slow down repeated sign-in attempts; it is not stored in the database.
  • The server's technical logs, for diagnostics and security: they are kept for the duration given at the top of this page.

No advertising cookies, no third-party analytics: that is why the site does not ask for your consent. Your theme choice (light or dark) stays in your browser.

What other players see: your username, photo, statistics, ranking, history and dice. Replays of finished games are public and show the players' usernames. Your email address is never shown.

Our providers, who only receive what they need:

  • Brevo (France), which sends the email verification and password reset emails: your email address and username.
  • Google (United States, covered by the Data Privacy Framework), if you choose Google sign-in: it verifies your sign-in token.
  • The site's host, listed above.

Retention: your account and everything attached to it are kept until you delete it. An email verification link is valid for 24 hours, a password reset link for one hour.

Your rights: access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction and objection. You can delete your account yourself, at the bottom of your profile: your profile, address, photo, dice, éclats, statistics and history are erased immediately; games already played remain, without your name (you appear in them as a bot). For the other rights, write to us. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr).

Terms of use

By creating an account, you accept these terms. The game is free; an account is needed to play, appear in the ranking and customise your dice.

The game is for people aged 15 and over. Under 15, you need the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

Your account is personal. Use an email address that belongs to you and keep your password to yourself. To change your dice or spend your éclats, your address must be confirmed.

Play fair. Forbidden: programs that play for you or automate your actions, deliberately exploiting a flaw, insulting, hateful or misleading usernames, and using reactions to harass.

Éclats are an in-game currency, earned by playing. They have no monetary value: they cannot be bought, sold, traded or refunded.

We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these rules. You can delete yours at any time, from your profile.

The service is provided as is, with no guarantee of continuous availability: a game may be interrupted by maintenance or an outage.

These terms may change; the version in force is the one on this page. They are governed by French law.
